Topic: Lifes unfair sometimes... Take 2 Posted: 24 March 2008 at 8:33pm |
So I posted four weeks ago about DH's 19 year old cousin who died in that boating accident. Well today their nanny got told she only has a few weeks left...
Last june her mother passed away (DH's great nana who was 95), the next month her husband passed of cancer (DH's Pop). During this time nanny was having radiotherapy as well. Then last month G died, and she has pretty much given up. You could actually see the deterioration in her (physically and mentally) pretty much overnight. So looks like we'll the fourth funeral in less than a year, all within the immediate family...
Oh and 2.5 years ago, 4 days before i had Hannah, DH's mum had a massive brain haemorrhage and almost died, and she is fine now, but not quite the same. And she is not coping with this well at the moment - add to all this DH's 16 year old sister who left school and moved to Aussie 2 weeks ago has ran out of money and has to be bailed out to get home.... Argh, I could go on.
So yeah, life is not treating my DHs family well at the moment. But it is really hard when you are an in-law, and I have really had problems with this. Cos although it is very very sad, they arent my family and I dont have the same life long relationship with them. Plus I am the only IL in this generation as DH is the oldest grandchild so feel very awkward at times, even tho I see them a lot and they are lovely (on the whole).
Anyway, just another long post from me tonight to get things off my chest.

awwww big hugs aimee, know how you feel, we have lost a few lately too on my dh side, two this past week and I know how you feel being the in law it really is not the same grief with like you say life long relationships, aye,my dh family is so big I hardly know most of them and the only time I usually get to meet most of them is at tangis, one was expected and was not and the expected one we were unable to go up north for as funds did not allow it but it's quite hard for guys too as they don't wear there emotions on the outside like us girls and my dh is not a big talker so hard to know what he is thinking sometimes

Thanks Yeah Nic, males arent so great at that are they?! Mine keeps feeling like he needs to be strong for everyone else and sort out all their issues etc, and he says he's just being a realist and getting on withthings but surely it must get to him...
