Today was the 10th anniversary of DH and I getting together....its not our wedding anniversary, but its the day that we actually got together. I know that DH knows (its easy to remember as it was the date of my 21st b'day party which was 2 days after my actual b'day - and I KNOW he KNOWS!!

I gave him a nice card this morning, but he hasnt even said anything about it today. I didnt expect a big celebration or anything like that, but I dunno maybe an acknowledgement might have been nice.

Would you be upset - or am I just over-reacting (due to hormones AGAIN!!)

Um...

"...the date of my 21st b'day party which was 2 days after my actual b'day..."

I'd quietly suggest you wait for two more days....

Orrrrrrrrrrrr....

You could just say, "Honey, know what day it is today?" kiss him on the cheek and walk away. Don't say anything else and start to watch the panic run through his head.

Did he do something for your birthday? I presume you don't have a wedding anniversary... um... I suspect it's one of those female vs male things where the girls are like, wow it's our getting together anniversary, so cool, etc etc, but the guys are like, yea well I loved you then, I still love you now, there's still a lot of life together left... they don't seem to have as much emphasis on dates.

Practical example (for fun). I asked my DH what date he first talked to my parents about me (I was only 16). It was about the 21st of April in 1999 but he hasn't a clue.
Engagement date: He thinks it was 14 Feb 1998. I think 14 Feb is sticking in his mind for "some important reason" but he can't work out what it is. Haha. The correct answer is 2 July 2002 LOL
Engagement party date: 20 July 2002, he hasn't the foggiest.
Wedding anniversary: 23, no 22 Feb 2002 hehe the 2's and 3's sometimes mix me up too. We were going to get married on the 23rd for a while and then we finally read the calendar right and figured it was a Sunday! So we changed to 22nd, but it was in 2003 (but 22/02/02 is easier to remember!)
My birthday: he got that right

Case in point?

Oh yea DH forgot our first wedding anniversary and when I gave him something he completely freaked out ROFL. It may be that your DP is flipping cause of the card - either trying to work out if he 'should' get something (tomorrow when he's at work) or it's not a biggie to him.

Oh man now my DH (chovy) is reading my previous post "But we were engaged for 4 years" No, I was 19 at engagement and 20 and wedding. "14th of Feb is Briona's birthday isn't it?" Nope. 27 July ROFL. This man hasn't a clue! I hope he remembers when Christmas is

Now he's guessing that Kryssi was born on 14 Feb (errrrr 14 Jan) and that's by process of elimination cause "Hannah's is on the 23rd of January... I think" (says him). Man this is getting far, far, worse. He's on the 23 Dec and Hannah's on the 27 Dec, I thought that was easy to remember!!! What a laugh!!

Are you sure? I mean reaaaaally sure? These things can kinda sneak up on you

I have nothing useful to add. I doubt Willie even remembers what YEAR we got together let alone the actual date. I nearly fell over backwards when he remembered Mothers Day.

He may just be too consumed with the impending birth. It affects men a lot more than we give them credit for. My husband made himself so sick he ended up on meds for a stomach condition. He didn't think it was stress over having a baby but 3 months on when things have settled down he is suddenly feeling ok again.
You should have seen him the day of the c/s, anyone would have thought he was getting surgery!!!!

I hate to say it but I would be disappointed if DH forgot an important date like that, but not saying anything after giving him a card, that would really annoy me.

DH forgot valentines day which I love to celebrate so I bought him a massive gift basket with all the things he loves and I gave it to him before work, he look confused so I had to tell him what day it was. Anyway he didn't come home at lunch time but that night he proposed with a ring and everything(he bought it in his lunch break) he well and truely made up for forgetting!!

Knowing what my DH's memory is like (i.e. shocking) I wouldn't expect him to remember what date we got together (& to be honest I'm not sure I can remember either). But it has obviously bothered you so I would say something to your partner. You'll feel better getting it out in the open. He must know what day it is, since you gave him a card this morning.

Maybe he's cooked you a romantic dinner by now?

A bit OT but I actualy regret not remembering the date we first got together.
And I also can't even remeber what we did this year for our first wedding anniversary - we were so wrapped with the 2 month old in the house! Hmm I,m sure we did do something
Anyways, hope he makes it up to you SimSam!

Bugger! Oh well, wishful thinking on my part, seeing as the boss says no more for me I have to live vicariously thru others. Must admit that vicarious morning sickness isn't as bad as the real kind either
