Read MoreCombat ills and chills with these tips from Harker Herbals’ wellness ambassador, naturopath Buffy Gill.
#1 Healthy diet
Prioritise a varied diet of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, legumes, and grains. High levels of antioxidants in fruit and veggies help to fight off immune threats, while fibre in all these foods supports good gut health.
#2 Focus on Vitamin C, D, and Zinc
These are powerhouses when it comes to your immune system. Sources of Vitamin C include capsicums, kiwifruit, brussel sprouts, broccoli, strawberries and citrus. Zinc is found in hemp seeds, pumpkin, sesame, sunflower seeds, tahini, cashews, pecans, and seaweed. Vitamin D is best sourced from spending 20-30 minutes in the midday sun over winter. Harker Herbals also offers a range of Vit C + Zinc products for extra support.
#3 Support with immune herbs
These are herbs we don’t use in our diets everyday. Herbs like ashwagandha, codonopsis, licorice, and astragalus in Harker Herbals Children’s Immune Build are great to support resilient little immune systems. If unwell, swap out with Harker Herbals Children’s Vira Guard. Vira Guard contains echinacea, olive leaf and elderberry – which research shows supports recovery for winter-related ills. Each dose delivers meaningful levels of active ingredients without preservatives or additives and all ingredients are independently tested for chemical residues. Kids will love the taste, and parents will appreciate the low-sugar content and gentle formulations that have been designed especially for children.
#4 Ensure adequate sleep
We all know the magic of a good night's sleep, and when children are tired their immune systems can take a hit. Sleep is when our body rests, recovers and fights off winter bugs so consider adding some calming sleep supporting herbs like lemon balm and chamomile, found in Harker Herbals Calm & Sleep, to your little one’s sleep routine.
Harker Herbals' Children's range of products have gentle formulations designed especially for little ones. To use, shake bottle well and dispense syrup onto a spoon or use a syringe to draw the recommended dose. You can also mix them into your child's bottle or drink.
