Read MoreSMALL BUT MIGHTY - THE NEW YARIS CROSS COMPACT SUV IS TOYOTA'S NEW OFFERING FOR SMALL CAR CUSTOMER NEEDS.
The new Yaris Cross is Toyota’s latest contribution to the compact SUV market. While based on the 2020 Yaris hatchback platform, the Yaris Cross is an entirely different looking vehicle with striking design and a more spacious and versatile interior. The Yaris Cross benefits from superior safety and driver assist technologies and draws on Toyota’s strong heritage of SUV engineering, small car design and advanced hybrid technology. Combining the horizontal taillights and rear screen clearly shows the shared family identity with the Yaris hatchback, yet the wider and more squared tailgate hints at the greater flexibility of the luggage space for day-to-day use. Practicality was a key focus as well as increased dimensions, like the height-adjustable luggage deck that allows for either secure underfloor storage or more space in the boot for larger bags.
Fittingly, Toyota has also created a brand new colour, Golden Ore, based on future colour trends and the growing popularity of precious metals, but with a natural and urban edge.
For the new Yaris Cross, Toyota developed two new 1.5-litre three-cylinder engines, one is petrol only, while the other is a compact lithium ion battery with the latest iteration of the Toyota hybrid system. Both deliver excellent fuel economy. The Yaris Cross is available with either the petrol engine only, or the same engine paired with the latest generation hybrid-electric system.
In addition to powerful, seamless driving, the Yaris Cross hybrid achieves class-leading fuel consumption with a usage of 3.8 litres per 100kms.
The cabin of the Yaris Cross has a sophisticated and comfortable feel with soft padded materials on the dashboard and new felt material for the door trim. The 'GX' is equipped with black fabric seats featuring embossed patterns and khaki-coloured side bolsters. The front seats include six-way driver and four-way passenger adjustment. The 'Limited' features premium tweed-like fabric inserts and synthetic leather seat material. The front driver seat is power-adjustable and both front seats are heated. With a leather steering wheel, leather gear lever knob, rear privacy glass and an additional USB charging port, you can be sure it has all the bells and whistles.
The audio and entertainment system is accessed via a 7-inch touchscreen and sound delivered via six speakers plus both Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto®. The 'Limited' also has a colour head up display and satellite navigation with SUNA Traffic Channel. Loading your Yaris Cross with children or luggage in tow is made even easier with the power back door and rear kick sensor, making opening the boot a breeze. As with all new Toyotas, the Yaris Cross has state of the art safety systems and benefits from the latest generation of the Toyota Safety Sense package including active safety systems and advanced driver assistance functions. These systems help drivers avoid a wide range of common accident risks through driver information, early warnings, and, when necessary, automatic braking and steering intervention. Pricing starts from $29,990 which includes all of Toyota's drive-away costs - WOF, registration, a full tank of fuel, the Toyota Care Service Advantage fixed price servicing package, floor mats, and three years or 100,000 kms warranty.
