DIY: Wooden crate storage

This project can be whipped up in a few hours and is great for storing small toys, books and special treasures.

You will need:

🗹  4 x sofa feet

🗹  2 pieces of wood 520 x 140 mm long and 18 mm thick

🗹  6 crates (ours were from Kmart)

🗹  Screws

🗹  Drill

🗹  Paint brush

🗹  Resene Colorwood English Walnut Stain

🗹  Resene testpots

Step 1  Stain the two pieces of wood (top and bottom) and the sofa feet in the Resene Colorwood English Walnut Stain

Step 2  Paint the crates – we painted two in Resene Tea, two in Resene Double Tea, and two in Resene Double Rice Cake. You will need two coats for best coverage.

Step 3  Screw the feet to the bottom board using screws and a drill.

Step 4  Screw the bottom two crates to the base board and then add an additional screw through the middle to secure the two crates together.

Step 5  Repeat for the second and third level crates  then screw the top stained panel to the top crates, but screw from underneath the crates (not on top).

Step 6  Add your decorative elements to the crates.
