You will need:
1 piece of MDF which is 900 x 120 mm long and 18 mm thick (this will be cut in half)
2 brackets (ours are metal and are 30 cm in length)
Screws for brackets and wall
Resene testpots
Resene Quick Dry Primer
Pencil and ruler
Jigsaw and power drill
Step 1 Take your piece of MDF wood and measure the mid point (450 mm) in pencil.
Step 2 Cut the MDF lengthways using a jigsaw.
Step 3 Paint the two pieces of MDF in your choosen colours. We painted the base of the desk in Resene Blue Night and the back panel in Resene Coconut Ice.
Step 4 To ensure good adhesion we gave the two metal brackets a coat of quick dry primer (this base coat makes painting onto metal much easier)
Step 5 Paint brackets. We choose Resene Zephyr. You will need two coats of paint on the brackets.
Step 6 Lay brackets on top of the underside of the desk and screw them up into the bottom of the desk using small screws.
Step 7 Using bigger screws, fasten the desk to the wall putting screws through the wall sides of the brackets.
Step 8 Once the desk is secure, place the top piece of wood on top of the desk and line it up. Then screw it to the wall to become the back panel.
Wall and Floor in Resene Carrara, desk panel in Resene Blue Night, back panel of desk in Resene Coconut Ice, stool in Resene Moonbeam, pencil pot in Resene Brown Sugar, drawers and brackets in Resene Zephyr; snake, $29.99, and ABC poster, $19.99, both from H&M, book and pencils on desk, stylist's own.
