Things to do in Wellington

Thanks to our Facebook friends for their family-friendly ideas for activities in Wellington.
Storyplaceat Te Papa is wonderful on a day when you need to escape the Wellington weather! The host reads a themed story and introduces an activity for the children to do before opening the curtain to a play area with plenty of role-playing opportunities! It is hands-on fun and suitable for children up to age five. For every five times you go (or if you pay for five people in one hit you get a free coffee in the cafe which also has a toy area for the kids!).
Story times and baby rock and rhyme at the library: Reading and singing times lead by a librarian — great for getting to know new books and listening to some of the classics.
Feed the ducks at the Wellington Botanical Gardens,
Take a ride on the cable car.
The Museum of Wellington City & Sea: It's much much smaller than Te Papa but lots of fun for little people wanting to climb and explore.
Tiny town at Kilburnie Recreation Centre: Heaps of ride-on toys, a huge bouncy castle and blocks to climb in and out of!
Animates Kaiwharawhara: Pick the right time to go and there are kittens and puppies in store and the staff are always very accommodating and allow stroking and patting!
We're always looking for other family friendly suggestions. If you have one please add it in the comments section below.
