A woodland wonderland baby shower
Create a woodlands wonderland for a cosy baby shower with a rustic touch.
At this charming baby shower, mama-to-be Adele Pedersen went from being overwhelmed by late pregnancy tiredness to overwhelmed by the generosity of her family and friends. Knowing that their bundle of joy would soon be wearing the clothes and playing with the toys they’d been gifted made the upcoming birth feel real. “Being surrounded by my community, and preparing to welcome our little man to the world, was a very special rite of passage that I am so thankful we got to experience” remembers Adele.
The table was decorated with antlers, pine cones, wooden crates and faux grass squares which all helped set the scene, giving guests the impression they had stumbled upon a feast in a forest clearing. Even the food featured forest-like textures and earthy tones.
Lemon cupcakes, ginger crunch, sausage rolls, savouries, fresh fruit and a cheese board all provided delicious refreshment. Indulgent wee mushrooms were created out of round Lindt chocolates, individually stuck on pretzel sticks and then dipped and sprinkled in chocolate. Liquid refreshments were kept simple – sparkling water infused with cinnamon sticks and lemon.
Taking centre stage amongst the tempting woodlands spread was an impressive cake made by Adele’s sister-in-law Karina (Karina Wong Cakes).
A team of friends and family worked behind the scenes to ensure Adele’s shower was full of treats, surprises and fun. A highlight for Adele was the drawing and play dough sculpting competition, when she judged her guests’ creative interpretations of what baby Cooper might look like. Guests were also engaged in a baby food blind-tasting challenge, and a nappy-changing relay. Adele’s husband’s grandmother even joined in the fun.
Special gifts included a homemade woodland-themed quilt and knitted shawl from Adele’s mother-in-law, and a towel embroidered with baby Cooper’s name. These are now treasured keepsakes.
Adele’s garland was from rosetintedflowers.com.
