We were gifted the Hape Countryside Train set to give an honest review on. Our kids are 2 1/2 and 6 and love the trainset. Our 6yr old helped me put it together by following the instructions provided. It was so cool watching them play with it individually, and it immersed them into it they were happily playing by themselves for ages. When our 6yr old saw on the box there were other sets that you can buy, he was talking about how cool it would be to get the city set so he could take his animals from the country to the city and back, as that's what they do at markets. I liked knowing that the other Hape train sets are all connectable is definitely is a selling point as you could make a whole room set up or have something small and simple, depending on your children's interests. Our 2 1/2 yr old liked being able to play with the train and tractor and putting the animals into the train carriages. Hape have thought about how to make activities for kids from 2-8 to be able to enjoy this, from as simple as pushing the train around the tracks with or without the animals, to picking up the animals and taking them to their pens and using the tractor to feed them. I love the fact there is no sounds, which helps the kids focus on playing over being distracted by the sounds, our 6yr old made the sound of the train, tractor and the animals which helps them play longer as it engages independant play.

My son has played with his Hape Train Bucket Set every single day since it arrived. He plays for hours creating different stories with each vehicle, entertaining all of us with his imagination and funny scenarios, having the train and boat talk to each other as they go about their journeys. He especially enjoys moving the batteries around using the crane and boat and then filling the trains with “energy”. We’ve since seen many wind turbines around when travelling and he has pointed out that they are using the wind like his train set and then he talks about it when he’s back playing with the trains at home. He’s already shown me the other trains and sets he’d love to combine with his and has asked Santa for them. Major bonus is that he loves packing it back up into the bucket by himself at the end of the day and pulling it around the house! Can’t wait to collect more!
